VACACIONES

A funny thing happened Sunday morning. The drivers side window broke of the family mobile. So i went to a place on the "bordo" on Monday. Asking that they just get the thing into rolled up position, planing on taking it to Honda the next day. So while the kids sat entertained (well the girls were at least, the boys might have been but they would never admit it!) watching a DVD of the Little Einsteins, the mechanic guy pops off all the stuff and the panel of the door and says the motor for the window "elevador" is broken. If I want the window to stay up he can drill a hole and... I stopped him there. I said no hole. He said then a piece of wood. I thought how are you going to get that to stay? But he seemed so confident, and by this time the kids had watched the whole DVD. SO I said ok no hole, use some wood I guess. He walked off, In the large workshop/garage all I could see were radiators, lots of metal everywhere. So as I watched his back disappear into the garage full of mashed up and dusty cars, I wondered where exactly is he going to get this wood??? A minute latter he comes back with a chopped off broomstick and some of those little plastic things you use to tighten around things... do those have a name? Grandpa would say do-hickeys. So I say, wont the stick fall and the window might shatter. No he says, in a reassuring way. That is why I brought these and holds up the do-hickeys. Love it. I paid him $200 pesos and we were on our way to Tabascos beach for the rest of the afternoon.

I have loved teaching this year. One of the MANY benefits is the contrast of the 5 am hustle and bustle mornings during busy school days to the laid back, sleep in till 6:30 ( :o ) no particular need to do anything at any specific time feel of our 2 week spring break. We live in beautiful Cabo. It's so easy....

Monday morning we did this:

after the window/broomstick then this:

when the full moon came out then this:

Tuesday we took it nice and easy around the house. Fransisco had spent the night. Then we went to meet Donja and Sky at the park, and bring home Eric and Ian for another "pijamada"

A funny Sarah story

After we left the park I had 5 hungry boys and 2 hungry girls. We had better go to Costco for pizza. While the boys waited for the pizza I ran inside to get a few things I had forgotten on my previous Costco run. Sarah saw the cheese section and shouted "CHEESE!" I said "yes there is the cheese." She shouted again "Cheese!" I asked "you want some cheese?" "Si!!!" was her answer. When we got outside she wanted nothing to do with the pizza. She did eat some, it took her a while but she finally understood that I could not, would not open the cheese till we got home. As soon as we walked in the door... CHEESE PEES!!!

This is her reaction to me saying we are not eating the cheese right now. (She had climbed up on the table to get it out of the cart.)

This is her reaction to me saying try some pizza.

  1. That window story sounds familiar. But, why didn't they fix yours like they did mine? You can tell Sarah that Conner loves chees too. It is his favorite. I got your music book and I will send it with Todd next week. Keep up on the blog I do enjoy reading it:)

  2. they're called cable ties. But I like "diddy-boo-diddy" better.
also, Sarah and Adelle need to play together so Sarah can teach Adelle to eat cheese. If Adelle asked for cheese in the store you better believe I would bust the whole aisle open to get her to eat it. ...sigh... someday.

  3. Love the stories and pictures! I laughed when you were trying to figure out what the "ties" were called. Because in the moment I read it it was as if the word escaped me! So I think we call them "ties" but I'll have to ask Paul in the morning because its going to BUG! Love the pictures of Sarah and the Cheese! We miss you guys!
